Story of Āī
A few details:
1) A low-caste people. People living in the estuary of the rivers of Sindhū and ī were generally called Āī. In the Parva of Ѳٲ we find Nakula defeating these people during his victory march after the great Ѳٲ battle.
2) Once Āī went to Dharmaputra with many gifts. (Śǰ첹 11-13, Chapter 51, Parva, Ѳٲ).
3) Once it was prophesied by 첹ṇḍⲹ Ṛṣi, that low-caste people like Āī and Ś첹 would become rulers of states in different parts of ٲ during Kaliyuga. (Śǰ첹 35-36, Chapter 188, Vana Parva, Ѳٲ).
4) In the Ҳḍaū (Battle array named after Ҳḍa) which ٰṇa created during the ܰܰṣeٰ battle he included Āī also. (Śǰ첹 6, Chapter 20, ٰṇa Parva, Ѳٲ).
5) Because of the hatred of Śū and Āī a sacred lake named վśԲ disappeared from the river, ī. (Śǰ첹 1 and 2, Chapter 37, Śⲹ Parva, Ѳٲ).
6) Āī were ṣaٰⲹ formerly. Afraid of ʲśܰ峾 they fled and lived in mountain-caves not continuing their hereditary work and thus became Śū. (Śǰ첹 16, Chapter 29, Aśvamedhika Parva, Ѳٲ).
7) When ٱ was destroyed by floods and all the 岹 were killed Arjuna went north taking along with him the wives of Śrī ṛṣṇa. At that time Āī were among those who attacked and carried away the women. (Śǰ첹 47-63, Chapter 7, Mausalya Parva, Ѳٲ).
