One of the Ṛṭviks of the Sarpasatra of Janamejaya.
Some details.
(1) The prominent Ṛt were , Kautsa, Jaimini, Sārṅgarava, ʾṅg, ղ, 첹 Pramattaka, Śٲٳ, Asita, Devala, 岹, Parvata, Āٰⲹ, Kuṇḍajāra, Kālaghāṭs, ٲⲹ, Kohala, ٱ𱹲ś, Maudgalya, Samasaurabha. (Chapter 53, Ādi Parva, Ѳٲ)
(2) Asita, Devala, ղśⲹԲ, Sumantu and Jaimini were disciples of ղ. (Prathama Skandha, Devī Bhāgavata).
(3) Asita, the sage, got by the blessing of Ś a son named Devala. (Brahmavaivarta ʳܰṇa).
(4) Once Asita muni explained to King Janaka the philosophy of rebirth. (ṇḍ ʳܰṇa, Chapter 47).
