upac膩rasato'rthasya s膩vasth膩 dyotyate na帽膩 || 271 ||271. It is true that a qualifier is a word which does not set aside the meaning of the main word. (Here also) the negative particle reveals the nature of the meaning of the word 产谤腻丑尘补峁嘺) namely, that it has only secondary existence.
Commentary
[The difficulty is removed as follows:鈥擳he word 产谤腻丑尘补峁嘺 in the compound has not got its primary meaning, but only a secondary meaning, that is, one who is thought of as a 产谤腻丑尘补峁嘺 though he has not all his qualities. It is this fact which the negative particle reveals and so it qualifies without setting aside the meaning of the word.]
