Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation of verse 3.14.155:

हरीतक्यादिष व्यक्तिः सङ्खया खलतिकादिषु
मनुष्यलुब्विशेषाणामभिधेयाश्रयं द्वयम्  १५

harītakyādiṣu vyakti saṅkhayā khalatikādiṣu |
Գṣylubviśeṣāṇāmabhidheyāśraya dvayam || 155 ||

155. In 󲹰īٲī etc., it is the gender (of the nimitta), in khalatika etc., it is the number (of the nimitta) which prevail. As to the adjectives of the word in which there is lup of the suffix kan taught when, the word formed with it is intended to denote a human being, it is the gender and number of what is intended to be conveyed (abhidheya) which prevail.

Commentary

[It is because gender and number are natural and only made known by śٰ that there is so much variation. In harītakyā phalāni, the gender of the nimitta prevails and the number of the Ծٳī. In 󲹱پ첹 (the name of a hill) Ծ, the number of the nimitta prevails and the gender of the nimitta. When the word ñ (effigy) is applied to a human being because of resemblance, there is lup of the suffix kan and its adjectives take the gender and number of the Ծٳī, namely, Գṣy and so we get the expression ñ abhirūpa, svākṛti darśanīya.]
