6. The parts which occur in a sequence and are partly existent and partly not so cannot enter into contact with the senses like the eyes whose objects are always the existent.

Commentary

If the whole is superimposed on each part or moment, as the latter is directly perceptible how is action said to be inferable?

[On the part which is present at a particular moment before the eyes, the whole is superimposed. Action should then be directly perceptible. And yet the M. BhÄ, has declared that action is only inferable. That is because the whole which is superimposed on the part has parts arranged in a sequence and as such it is not directly perceptible. And it is that which is called action.]
