Commentary
[Both the parents are responsible for the birth of a child and as long as one does not want to make any distinction, one looks upon both as agents (办补谤迟腻) in the act of procreation. When distinction is sought to be made, one says that the father sows the seed in the mother and the mother receives the seed from the father. Speaking generally, the root 鈥樷垰jan鈥� means 鈥榯o bring into existence鈥�. But when it is applied to particular cases, the particular function may vary.]
The author now elucidates the 叠丑腻峁补 passage about the main action and the subordinate actions.
