27. Sahokti

सा सहोक्तिः सहार्थस् बलाद एक द्वि-वाचकम्  १०.११२cd

sahokti sahārthasya balād eka 屹-峦첹 || 10.112cd ||

—t󲹳; -ܰپ—t ornament called sahokti (“a mention of saha); saha-arthasya—of the sense of saha (with); —by the force; ekam—one [word]; 屹-峦첹—it expresses two things.

When one word is doubly expressive, by the force of the sense of saha (with), that is sahokti (conjoined statement).

ekānvaya-bodhakam api sahārtha-balād ubhayor avagamaka cet sahokti.

If one word is syntactically connected with one thing yet it causes the understanding of a syntactical connection with another thing as well, by the force of the sense of saha, that is sahokti.
