तद�-भेदान् आह,
tad-bhedān āha,
He mentions the varieties of ٳܳٲ-śṃs,
nimitte 峾Բ śṣe prastute sati |
tad-anyasya vacas tulye tulyasyeti ca 貹ñdhā ||10.99||
—which is an effect; nimitte—which is a cause; 峾Բ—which is a generality; śṣe—which is a particular; prastute sati—when there is a prastuta; tat-anyasya—of the other; �—a word (the mention); tulye—[when the prastuta] is a similar thing; tulyasya—of a similar thing; iti—in this way; ca—aԻ; 貹ñ-쾱ڴDZ.
Aprastuta-śṃs has five varieties: (1) An effect is understood from its cause, (2) A cause is understood from its effect, (3) A generality is understood from a particular case, (4) A particular case is understood from a generality, and (5) One thing is understood from a similar thing.
