Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (manubh膩峁a):
This is a declamatory statement in support of the aforesaid injunction of the oblations to certain deities.
In the case of the Religious Student who has committed an immoral act, his 鈥�spiritual power,鈥欌�攖he merit acquired by him by the various kinds of knowledge鈥斺��goes away into鈥� several deities; i.e., it disappears among them. What is meant is that it departs from the Religious Student鈥�(121)
