Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (manubh膩峁a):
鈥�Thickets鈥欌赌攕hrubs growing together in a compact form.
鈥�Bamboos鈥欌赌�i.e., such trees as the Casta Fistula and the like; as there are many varieties of these, the text has added the epithet 鈥�of various kinds.鈥�
鈥�Creepers鈥欌赌攖endrils; those species of grass that have long-extending roots.
鈥�Mound鈥欌赌攊s an artificial raised grass-plot.
The Kubjaka being a 鈥�thicket鈥� (already mentioned before), it has been specially singled out, on account of its importance.鈥�(247)

This verse is quoted in 痴颈惫腻诲补谤补迟苍腻办补谤补 (p. 202), which adds the following notes:鈥斺��骋耻濒尘腻岣�鈥�, branchless shrubs,鈥斺��惫补濒濒测补岣�鈥�; the 驳耻岣嵟玞墨 and other creepers,鈥斺��蝉迟丑补濒腻苍颈鈥�, artificial earth-mounds,鈥斺��kubjaka gulma鈥�, bushes of kubjaka (Rose).
It is quoted in 惭颈迟腻办峁谤腻 (2.151), whereon 叠腻濒补尘产丑补峁弓墨 has the following notes:鈥斺��Gulma鈥� is shrub without branches, or merely grass-clump,鈥斺��sthala鈥� is artificially elevated ground,鈥斺��诲补峁囜笉补办补驳耻濒尘补鈥� (which is one reading for 鈥�kubjakagulma鈥�) is not the right reading, the correct one being 鈥�kupyakagulma鈥�, which means 鈥榮uch shrubs as are related to (used in the cleaning and polishing of) copper and other metals (except gold and silver)鈥�;鈥斺��迟补迟丑腻鈥�, i.e., 鈥榦n this being done鈥�;鈥攁nd in 痴颈惫腻诲补肠颈苍迟腻尘补峁噄 (p. 93).
