asvastha岣� sarvametat tu bh峁泃ye峁 viniyojayet || 226 ||The king, who is free from diseases, shall act up to this ordinance; but when indisposed, he shall entrust all this to his servants.鈥�(226)
Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (manubh膩峁a):
鈥�This鈥欌�攚hat has gone before;鈥攂eginning with the verse 鈥榓t midday or at midnight &c. &c.鈥�;鈥攁ll that has been laid down here, 鈥�he shall act up to鈥�,鈥攁s far as he can do so, 鈥�When indisposed he shall entrust it to his servants鈥欌�攅mploy them to do it. In this manner having arranged for his own safety, he successfully carries upon his own business, as also that of his subjects.鈥�(226)

This verse is quoted in 惭颈迟腻办峁谤腻 (on 1.330);鈥攁nd in 痴墨谤补尘颈迟谤辞诲补测补 (R膩jan墨ti, p. 169), which explains 鈥�etat sarvam鈥� as 鈥榩rotection of the people and so forth鈥�.
