Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (尘补苍耻产丑腻峁补):
He should not wear these things, when they have been worn by his father and others. Gautama says鈥斺�業n cases of disability, these may be used after having been washed.鈥� (97 (9.7?))
鈥�Karaka鈥� is the water-pot; the using of the pot that is used by even his father is contrary to usage. The pot is held to be a relative substance, and hence can be used only by one to whom it belongs, and by no other person.
鈥�Ornament鈥欌�攂racelet of ivory, and so forth. By reason of this being mentioned along with such cheap articles as the 鈥榳ater-pot,鈥� and the like, it follows that the use of jewelry and pearl-ornaments is not forbidden. This is the view of some people.鈥�(66)

This verse is quoted in 痴颈诲丑腻苍补辫腻谤颈箩腻迟补 (p. 671);鈥攊n 狈颈谤峁嘺测补蝉颈苍诲丑耻 (p. 195) as laying down certain rules for the Accomplished Student;鈥攊n 艢耻诲诲丑颈办补耻尘耻诲墨 (p. 313), which explains 鈥�Karaka鈥� as 碍补尘补峁囜笉补濒耻, water-pot;鈥攊n 狈峁泂颈峁僪补辫谤补蝉腻诲补 (Sa峁僺k膩ra, p. 71b);鈥攊n 厂补峁僺办腻谤补尘补测奴办丑补 (p. 71);鈥攁nd in 厂尘峁泃颈蝉腻谤辞诲诲丑腻谤补 (p. 319), which also explains 鈥�Karaka鈥� as 碍补尘补峁囜笉补濒耻.
