na kad膩 cana kurv墨ta vi峁噈奴trasya visarjanam || 48 ||One should never pass faeces or urine, while looking at the wind or fire, or a Br膩hma峁嘺, or the sun, or water, or cows.鈥�(48)
Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (尘补苍耻产丑腻峁补):
What is meant is that one shall not do the act facing the wind; and the other things he shall not look at, while urinating, even by turning his body towards them. Since wind is colourless, its seeing can only he ascertained by seeing the flight of leaves, hits of earth and other things waft
ed by the wind. This prohibition would be incongruous if it applied to the entire air-circle (atmosphere); since wind is blowing everywhere.鈥�(48)

This verse is quoted in 惭补诲补苍补辫腻谤颈箩腻迟补 (p. 43), which explains 鈥�辫补艣测补苍鈥� as 鈥榖efore鈥�, 鈥�蝉补尘尘耻办丑补岣�鈥�;鈥攁nd in 痴墨谤补尘颈迟谤辞诲补测补 (膧hnika, p. 37), which explains 鈥�辫补艣测补苍鈥� as 鈥榣ooking at, in front of鈥�, in order to make it applicable to the wind, which is not 鈥�visible鈥� with the eye.
