t膩vat膩峁� na phala峁� tatra d膩t膩 pr膩pnoti b膩li艣a岣� || 176 ||If one who is unworthy of company happen to look upon a number of those that are worthy of company, while those are eating, then the foolish giver (of food) does not obtain the reward of feeding so many men.鈥�(176).
Medh膩tithi鈥檚 commentary (尘补苍耻产丑腻峁补):
鈥�笔腻峁卥迟测补鈥� are those that deserve the pa峁卥ti, line. One is called 鈥�辫腻峁卥迟测补鈥� when one is deserving of sitting on the same seat as, and eating in the company of, good men. He who is not so deserving, is 鈥�a-辫腻峁卥迟测补.鈥�
As many worthy people鈥攍earned men, ascetics and persons learned in the Veda鈥攖he unworthy man happens to look upon while the former are eating,鈥攖he reward of feeding so many men,鈥攊n the shape of the satisfaction of his ancestors鈥攆ails to be accomplished.
For this reason, when one is performing 艣谤腻诲诲丑补蝉, one should send away from that place all thieves and others.
