This is verse 1.37 of the Jnaneshwari (Bhavartha-Dipika), the English translation of 13th-century Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad-Gita.鈥擳he Dnyaneshwari (Jnaneshwari) brings to light the deeper meaning of the Gita which represents the essence of the Vedic Religion. This is verse 37 of the chapter called Arjuna鈥檚 Dolour.
Verse 1.37
Verse 1.37: 鈥淗ence, we would do well not to slay Dhritarashtra鈥檚 sons, our own kinsmen; for, how can we, O Madhava, feel happy after slaying our own kith and kin?鈥� (233)
Commentary called Jnaneshwari by Jnaneshwar:
Therefore I would not do this thing viz. wield a weapon (in my hand) in the battle since it appears to me to be the most deadly sin. We would lose you, leaving nothing as our own and then our hearts would be rent without you, O Krishna.鈥� Arjuna added that it would never happen that he would kill the Kauravas and survive and enjoy.
