The Threefold Science is the syllable these three regions are the 笔谤腻蝉迟补惫补; Fire, Air, and Sun are the 鲍诲驳墨迟丑补; the Stars, the Birds and the Rays are 笔谤补迟颈丑腻谤补; the serpents, the Gandharvas and the Pit峁泂 are the Nidhana.鈥擳his is the 厂腻尘补 interwoven in all鈥�(1)

Commentary (艢a峁卥ara Bh膩峁�ya):

The Threefold Science is the syllable 鈥楬i峁呪��;鈥攖his section of the Threefold Science is dealt with immediately after the 厂腻尘补 in the form of Agni and other deities, because the Veda has declared that the Threefold Science is the product of Agni and the rest.鈥擳his is the syllable 鈥楬i峁呪��, as it is the first step in the process of the performance of all one鈥檚 duties鈥�These three worlds.鈥攚hich come next, as the product of the preceding,鈥攁re the 笔谤补蝉迟腻惫补.鈥�Agni鈥攆ire, and the rest are the 鲍诲驳墨迟丑补, on account of their superior importance.鈥�The stars and the rest are the 笔谤补迟颈丑腻谤补, because they are assembled together.鈥擳he Serpents and the rest are Nidhana鈥攂ecause the letter 鈥榙ha鈥� is common (to the names 鈥�Gandharva鈥� and 鈥�Nidhana鈥�).鈥擳here being no special name for this 厂腻尘补, it is called here by the generic name 鈥�厂腻尘补鈥�; it is interwoven in all;鈥斺�榓ll鈥� here stands for the Threefold Science and the rest; the sense is that the syllable 鈥楬i峁呪�� and other constituent factors of the 厂腻尘补 are to be meditated upon as the Threefold Science and the rest.鈥擨n fact, even in the case of all the particular 厂腻尘补s described above, wherever the 厂腻尘补 is spoken of as 鈥榠nterwoven鈥� in certain things, what is meant is that it is in the form of these things that the 厂腻尘补 should be meditated upon; because the details of all acts become embellished and sanctified by what it is viewed as,鈥攋ust as the Butter becomes embellished and sanctified by being looked upon.鈥�(1)

One who thus knows this 厂腻尘补 as interoven in All, becomes all.鈥�(2)

Commentary (艢a峁卥ara Bh膩峁�ya):

The following is the reward accruing to one who knows the 厂腻尘补 as pertaining to all things: He becomes all; that is, he becomes the lord of all things.鈥擨f 鈥榖ecoming all鈥� were taken in its literal sense (and not figuratively in the sense of becoming the lord of all things), then there would be no possibility of receiving offerings from persons residing in the various quarters (as described in text 4, below].鈥�(2)

To this effect there is this verse:鈥斺�楾hat which is five-fold, by threes and threes,鈥攖here is nothing else higher than that.鈥欌��(3)

Commentary (艢a峁卥ara Bh膩峁�ya):

To this 厂腻尘补 effect, there is this verse i.e. the Mantra Text,鈥擳hose that have been described as fivefold,鈥攊n five ways,鈥攊n the form the syllable 鈥楬in and the rest,鈥�by threes and threes,鈥攊n the form of the 鈥楾hreefold Science鈥� and the rest,鈥攖han these five triads, there is nothing higher鈥攇reater or loftier; beyond these there is nothing else, that is, nothing else exists, all things being included in those same.鈥�(3)

One who knows this knows all; all quarters carry offerings to him:鈥擮ne should meditate upon the idea that 鈥業 am all;鈥欌�攖his is the observance; yea, thia is the observance.鈥�(4)

Commentary (艢a峁卥ara Bh膩峁�ya):

One who knows the said 厂腻尘补 as constituting, all, knows all; that is, he becomes omniscient. All quarters,鈥攊.e persons residing in all directions,鈥�carry 辫谤别蝉别苍迟鈥�offerings鈥攇ifts of enjoyment鈥�to him.鈥斺�業 am all鈥�,鈥擨 am becoming all,鈥攖hus should he meditate upon the 厂腻尘补; such is the observance for the said person.鈥擳he repetition is meant to indicate the end of the treatment of the meditation of 厂腻尘补.鈥�(4)
