यो � वा आयतन� वेदायतनं � स्वाना� भवति मन� � वा आयतनम् � �.�.� �

yo ha vā ⲹٲԲ� vedⲹٲԲ� ha svānā� bhavati mano ha vā ⲹٲԲ || 5.1.5 ||

5. He who knows the abode becomes the shelter of his family. The mind is the abode.

Word-for-word explanation:

Ya� ha vai, he who; ⲹٲԲ veda, knows the abode; ⲹٲԲ ha svānām bhavati, becomes the abode [i.e., shelter] of his family; Բ� ha vai ⲹٲԲ, the mind is surely the abode.

Commentary:

There is something in the body-mind complex of human beings called ⲹٲԲ. If a person knows this ‘ⲹٲԲ�,� it is to be understood that he is a wise person. And such a person is able to serve as an ⲹٲԲ to his own relatives. That is to say, he is
