The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 2.2.80, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). इतस् तत� � दृष्ट्वा तम� अपृच्छ� तान् मह�-मुनीन् �
� ते स्तुवन्त� माम् अग्र� नमन्तं लोकयन्त्य् अप� � ८० �

itas tato na ṛṣṭv tam apṛccha� -ܲī |
na te stuvanta� 峾 agre namanta� lokayanty api || 80 ||

ita� tata�–here and there; na–ndz; ṛṣṭv–s𾱲Բ; tam–H; ṛc󲹳–I asked; –t; -ܲī–great sages; na–ndz; te–t; stuvantam–offering prayers; –m; agre–bڴǰ; namantam–bowing down; lokayanti–they looked; api–e.

I wandered everywhere, but I did not find Śī īś. Having no other recourse, I inquired from the great sages, but they did not reply. Although I even prostrated myself before them and offered prayers, they still did not even look at me.

Śī Gopa-ܳ says, “I searched everywhere but was not able to see Śī īś. I then inquired from those great sages, ‘Where in Tapoloka does Śī īś reside?� Not only did they not respond, but they also did not even look at me. Even though I prostrated myself before them and glorified them, they still completely ignored me.�
