The Brihad-bhagavatamrita Verse 2.1.141, English translation, including commentary (Dig-darshini-tika): an important Vaishnava text dealing with the importance of devotional service. The Brihad-bhagavatamrita, although an indepent Sanskrit work, covers the essential teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavatam (Bhagavata-purana). This is verse 2.1.141 contained in Chapter 1—Vairagya (renunciation)—of Part two (prathama-khanda).

तद�-वाचानन्दितोऽगत्व� क्षुदितोऽप� तद�-अलयम� �
तं प्रणम्� तद�-उद्दिष्ट-वर्त्मना ता� पुरीम् अगाम� � १४� �

tad-峦nandito'gatvā kṣudito'pi tad-alayam |
ta� ṇaⲹ tad-uddiṣṭa-ٳ tā� purīm 峾 || 141 ||

tat–h; –by the words; ԲԻ徱ٲ�–made happy; ٱ–not going; ṣu徱ٲ�–feeling hungry; api–aٳdzܲ; ٲ-ⲹ–to his house; tam–to him; ṇaⲹ–after bowing down; ٲ-ܻ徱ṣṭ–pointed out by him; ٳ–by the path; tām purīm–to that capital; –I went.

I became overjoyed to hear the 󳾲ṇa’s words, and although I was hungry, I did not go to his house. I offered obeisances to the 󳾲ṇa and, following the path he had pointed out, finally reached that capital city.

Śī Gopa-ܳ says, “I did not go to the 󳾲ṇa’s home because I became pleased just by hearing his words. After that, I offered him repeated obeisances, begging forgiveness for not visiting his home and accepting the Lord’s , and seeking his blessings for an auspicious journey and for an increase in my devotion. I then proceeded to the capital city by the path he had indicated.�
