Verse 1.5.38
Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration, Word-for-word and English translation of verse 1.5.38:
नकुल सहदेवश यादृक्-प्रीति-पर यम
अग्र-पूजा-विचारादौ सर्वैस तद-वृत्तम ईक्षितम् ३८ nakula sahadevaś ca yādṛk-prīti-parau yamau |
agra-ū-vicārādau sarvais tad-vṛttam īkṣitam || 38 ||(Twin brothers) Nakula and Sahadeva also completely displayed the kind of affection they have for Śrī ṛṣṇa at the time of the Ჹūⲹ sacrifice by proposing to worship Śrī ṛṣṇa first. This was observed by everyone.
Commentary: Dig-darśinī-ṭīkā with Bhāvānuvāda
(By Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī himself including a deep purport of that commentary)
Nakula and Sahadeva are full of the topmost affection for Śrī ṛṣṇa. Here yamau (twin brothers) implies that the disposition of one is also tantamount to the disposition of the other—both had the same affection for Śrī ṛṣṇa.
Agra-ū, that is, on the occasion of the Ჹūⲹ sacrifice, who should be given first arghya or worship? All the people who were present in the Ჹūⲹ sacrifice personally saw the nature of affection the twin brothers had towards Śrī ṛṣṇa
