This is a scene of Vibhisana Pattabhisekam [Pattabhiseka]. We can see Vibhisana seated in the centre, his wife by his side on the right side. Laksmana is on the left side doing the Pattabhisekam [Pattabhiseka]. Both Vibhisana and his wife Sarama are in Sukhasana with their left left folded, the right leg is let down resting on a platform. վԲ’s right hand is in Sandamsa and his left hand is in Lata. ’s right hand is in Varada and her left hand is hidden and can”t be seen.

Kumbakonam is considered as one of the holiest places in Tamil Nadu and is known for its temples and Mathas (monasteries which were centres of Brahmanical learning). These photographs depict the connection between the sculptures in the temples and Natya Shastra and related texts dealing with iconography.
