۲ū (यवपूजा) refers to the “worship with barley grains�, as mentioned in the Śivapurāṇa 2.1.14:—“performance of the worship of Śiva with a hundred thousand barley grains is highly efficacious. Eight and a half Prasthas and two Palas of barley grains constitute a hundred thousand in number according to ancient calculation. The worship with barley grains (ⲹū), the sages say, increases heavenly pleasures�.
