Pancaratra (worship of Nārāyaṇa)
: archive.org: Catalogue of Pancaratra Agama Texts1) ղūīṣ� (व्यूहदीक्षा) refers to a type of initiation (into Pāñcarātra) discussed in the twenty-first chapter of the Īśvarasaṃhitā (printed edition), a Pāñcarātra work in 8200 verses and 24 chapters dealing with topics such as routines of temple worship, major and minor festivals, temple-building and initiation.—Description of the chapter [īṣ�-]: [...] Four other types of īṣ�-initiation ceremonies—called �nitya-īṣ��, �vyūhaīṣ��, �brahma-īṣ�� and �paramantra-īṣ�”—are, briefly outlined (449-464). After īṣ�-initiation ceremonies are completed, the initiate must undergo a ritual bath, the preparations for and the procedures of which are given (465-504). Only after all this may he independently do ū.
2) ղūīṣ� (व्यूहदीक्षा) refers to one of the “threefold initiation�, as discussed in chapter 16 of the ٳٱٲṃh: one of the most ancient of Pāñcarātra Āgamas consisting of roughly 3500 verses which stresses the theological standpoint of the oneness of God despite his various ū (modes of existence), vibhavas (manifestations) and (incarnations).—Description of the chapter [īṣāṅgā-aghaśānti-vidhi]: [...] For those Brahmins whose sinful background so requires it, there is an expiatory period of from two to four months required in addition to making a gift of gold; for other castes, the period of expiation must be twice as long. For such sinful ones, a (preliminary) narasiṃhaīṣ� is to be given. That having been taken care of, then an initiate is ready for the three-fold īṣ�-DzԾ£, vibhavaīṣ�, vyūhaīṣ� and sūkṣmāīṣ�. [...]
