Source: Wisdom Library: Kath膩sarits膩gara痴峁沰峁驳丑补峁璦 (啶掂啶曕啶粪啶�) is the name of an ancient city, as mentioned in the eighth story of the 痴别迟腻濒补辫补帽肠补惫颈峁兣沘迟颈 in the Kath膩sarits膩gara, chapter 82. Accordingly, 鈥�... there is a great tract of land assigned to Br膩hmans in the country of A峁単a, called 痴峁沰峁驳丑补峁璦. In it there lived a rich sacrificing Br膩hman named Vi峁ａ箛usv膩min. And he had a wife equal to himself in birth. And by her he had three sons born to him, who were distinguished for preternatural acuteness鈥�.
The story of 痴峁沰峁驳丑补峁璦 is mentioned in the 痴别迟腻濒补辫补帽肠补惫颈峁兣沘迟颈 (twenty-five tales of a 惫别迟腻濒补) which is embedded in the twelfth book of the Kath膩sarits膩gara (鈥榦cean of streams of story鈥�). The main book is a famous Sanskrit epic detailing the exploits of prince Narav膩hanadatta in his quest to become the emperor of the 惫颈诲测腻诲丑补谤补蝉 (celestial beings). The Kath膩-sarit-s膩gara is is explained to be an adaptation of Gu峁嚹佱笉hya鈥檚 B峁沨atkath膩 which consisted of 100,000 verses and in turn forms part of an even larger work containing 700,000 verses.
