Source: Wisdom Library: Maha Prajnaparamita Sastraվ岹ū (विवादमूल) refers to the “origin of quarrels�, according to Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra (chapter 2).—Accordingly, “[Question.—Why do Buddhist ūٰ begin with the word evam, ‘thus�?]—[...] Furthermore, to say: ‘My doctrine is true (satya), the other doctrines are deceptive (ṛṣ屹岹); my doctrine is absolute (parama), the others are wrong (ūٲ)�: such is the origin of quarrels (岹ū). Here the term Evam designates a doctrine free of quarreling: listening to the words of others, it declares: ‘This man is not wrong�. That is why the Buddhist ūٰ begin with Evam�.

Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many ūٰ of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā ūٰ.
