Source: Wisdom Library: Kath膩sarits膩gara1) 痴颈办谤补尘补迟耻峁単补 (啶掂た啶曕啶班ぎ啶む啶權啶�) is the name of a king from P膩峁璦liputra according to the story 鈥渢he brave king 痴颈办谤补尘补迟耻峁単补鈥� according to the Kath膩sarits膩gara, chapter 35. Accordingly, 鈥渋n that city [P膩峁璦liputra] there dwelt long ago a brave king named 痴颈办谤补尘补迟耻峁単补, who in giving never turned his back on a suppliant, nor in fighting on an enemy. That king one day entered the forest to hunt and saw there a Br膩hman offering a sacrifice with vilva fruits鈥�.
The story of 痴颈办谤补尘补迟耻峁単补 was narrated to king Hemaprabha by queen Ala峁卥膩raprabh膩 in order to demonstrate that 鈥渢he Lord grants their desires to men of fierce courage, seeming to be either terrified or pleased by them鈥�.

He was distinguished for statesmanship, and though his sword was sharp, his rod of justice was not so; and he was always intent on righteousness, but not on women, hunting, and so forth鈥�.
The story of 痴颈办谤补尘补迟耻峁単补 was narrated by Gomukha to Narav膩hanadatta in order to demonstrate that 鈥渟overeigns, by their merit in a previous life, sometimes fall in with exceptionally heroic servants, who, in their nobility of soul, abandoning regard for their lives and all other possessions for the sake of their master, conquer completely the two worlds鈥�.
The Kath膩sarits膩gara (鈥榦cean of streams of story鈥�), mentioning 痴颈办谤补尘补迟耻峁単补, is a famous Sanskrit epic story revolving around prince Narav膩hanadatta and his quest to become the emperor of the 惫颈诲测腻诲丑补谤补蝉 (celestial beings). The work is said to have been an adaptation of Gu峁嚹佱笉hya鈥檚 B峁沨atkath膩 consisting of 100,000 verses, which in turn is part of a larger work containing 700,000 verses.
