: Shodhganga: Kakati Ganapatideva and his timesVijñāneśvaram was a commentary on Yājñanavalkva-smṛti composed by Vijñāneśvara, a court poet of the western Cālukya Emperor Vikramāditya VI (A.D. 1076-1126). It is a treatise on contemporary law and judiciary. Ketana (A.D. 1210-1300) rendered Vijñāneśvaram into Telugu and adopted the customs and usages prevalent in Āndhra society. Hence it is an important work for a study of the 13th century society in Āndhradeśa.
