վ岵Ჹ (विभागज) refers to “[sound] born of disjunction one represents one of the three of Śabda (sound) according to Annaṃbhaṭṭa and the Nyāyabodhinī.—This division is done on the basis of how sound is produced. Hence, sound (ś岹) can be: ṃyDzᲹ (born of conjunction), 岵Ჹ (born of disjunction), and ś岹ja (born of sound). When there is a contact of the stick with the drum, the first kind of sound (ṃyDzᲹ) is produced. When a bamboo is split, a sound is produced. This is 岵Ჹ sound. The last variety is ś岹ja which is found in all subsequent sounds.
