: archive.org: A History of Indian Philosophy (saivism)Tirupavirupathu refers to one of the fourteen 艢aiva-siddh膩nta works mentioned by Schomerus in his books: Der 艢aiva Siddh膩nta.鈥擳丑别 艢补颈惫腻驳补尘补蝉 or 厂颈诲诲丑腻苍迟补蝉 are supposed to have been originally written by Mahe艣vara, probably in Sanskrit. Schomerus mentions the names of twenty-eight 艢补颈惫腻驳补尘补蝉 and further mentions the names of fourteen canonical texts [e.g., Tirupavirupat岣] forming the materials of the 艢aiva-siddh膩nta 艢膩stra. They are written in Tamil.
Shaiva (啶多啶�, 艣aiva) or Shaivism (艣aivism) represents a tradition of Hinduism worshiping Shiva as the supreme being. Closely related to Shaktism, Shaiva literature includes a range of scriptures, including Tantras, while the root of this tradition may be traced back to the ancient Vedas.
