ṭākṇĸ (टाकणें).—v c (ٲ岵 S) To throw--away, off, from, down; to cast, toss, fling. 2 To leave, abandon, forsake, relinquish, renounce, quit; to give up, throughout its variations. 3 To spread or lay out (a bedding, a carpet). 4 To lay upon; to commit unto or consign over (a business, a burden, a trust): also to throw upon another, or to leave for another. Ex. hā tyājavara ṭākatō tō tyājavara tō tisaṛyāvara hyāpramāṇēṃ tē kōlatāhēta. 5 To lay (a bet or wager). 6 To cast (sowing seed): to cast out (its ear or head); to shoot the hose--corn: to reject (ٳԲ or the breast): to put out at the gallop (a horse): to lay (ٲ hand) upon: to cast or lose (ṅg flesh). ṭāka ṭākṇĸ with ī� of o. To compete, cope, vie with; to assume airs of equality with one's betters. ṭākṇĸ ṭākṇĸ To go through the form; to pay the empty compliment; to perform the required ceremonies (of inviting, visiting &c.) where there is no esteem or friendship. 2 See the phrase ṭāka ṭākṇĸ. ṭāk ḍāva paḍaṇēṃ To come to pass of itself--the very event one is striving to bring about. ṭāk or ṭākūna yēṇēṃ To come as if tossed or thrown hither; to come constantly and as a sure thing or matter of course;--used of strangers and visitors. Ex. tyācē gharī� pāhuṇ� ṭāk or ṭākūna yētō; kōṭhūna nāhī� tēthūna ṭāk pāhuṇ� jōśībāvācē gharī� āhēca. This form, ṭāk for ṭākŧ (Thrown, as if thrown at, unto, upon), is an expressive idiom in the sense Certain, sure, necessary, unfailing, or Constant, regular, set, of fixed recurrence or settled routine or course. Ex. ḍōṅgarāvara ṭ�0 ū On mountains rain is a matter of course; ṭ�0 -ōᲹ-ܻī- &c. An employment or a business thrown in one's way, forced or obtruded upon one's acceptance; ṭākalē� anna or ŧṇa Food or a meal unfailingly afforded; ṭākalī kimata (Favorable) price or terms offered promptly or spontaneously; ṭākalī gāṇṭha paḍaṇēṃ or bhēṭa ghēṇēṃ To encounter or meet with of necessity or certainty; rōgyālā prātaḥkāḷīṃ ṭāk utāra; hyā ghōḍyācē ṭākalē śambhara rupayē yētīla; hyā lagnānta ṭākalē dōna paisē tara jēvāyālā ghālīla; hā ṭāk kaḷavanti- ṇīcyā gharī� asatō. This verb, preceded by the suspensive form, the form in ūԲ, of the past participle of another verb, expresses completeness or perfection of action. Ex. ūԲ ṭākṇĸ To beat to death; pāḍūna ṭ�0 To throw down; khāūna ṭ�0 To eat up; dēūna ṭ�0To give unreservedly; to make over; lihūna ṭ�0 To write off; piūna ṭ�0 To drink off. ṭākṇĸ, like ghālaṇēṃ, ṻŧṇĸ &c., or like the English verbs To cast, to throw &c., is of multifarious and indefinite application, and accordingly it could be further explained and exemplified; but we would not altogether preclude the researches and the discoveries of the student.
