Source: Wisdom Library: KathÄsaritsÄgara³§¾±»å»å³ó¾±°ì²¹°ùÄ« (सिदà¥à¤§à¤¿à¤•री) is the pupil of Yogakaraṇá¸ikÄ: a female ascetic from TÄmraliptÄ, according to the “story of DevasmitÄâ€� found in the KathÄsaritsÄgara, chapter 13. The story of DevasmitÄ was told by Vasantaka to VÄsavadattÄ in order to divert her thoughts as she was anxiously awaiting her marriage with Udayana.
The KathÄsaritsÄgara (‘ocean of streams of storyâ€�), mentioning ³§¾±»å»å³ó¾±°ì²¹°ùÄ«, is a famous Sanskrit epic story revolving around prince NaravÄhanadatta and his quest to become the emperor of the ±¹¾±»å²âÄå»å³ó²¹°ù²¹²õ (celestial beings). The work is said to have been an adaptation of GuṇÄá¸hya’s Bá¹›hatkathÄ consisting of 100,000 verses, which in turn is part of a larger work containing 700,000 verses.
