Source: Wisdom Library: Maha Prajnaparamita SastraSarvatragahetu (सर्वत्रगहेतु) refers to the “universal cause� and represents one of the five causes (hetu) of the causal condition (hetupratyaya), which itself is one of the four kinds of pratyaya (conditions) according to the 2nd century Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra chapter XLIX. Accordingly, “the perverse tendencies (Գśⲹ) to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering and the truth of the origin are cause of all defiled (ṣṭ) dharmas and are called universal cause (sarvatragahetu)�.

Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many ūٰ of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā ūٰ.
