Theravada (major branch of Buddhism)
: Pali Kanon: Manual of Buddhist Terms and Doctrines'receptive consciousness', is the mindelement (mano-dhātu) that follows immediately upon the arising of sense-consciousness (visual consciousness, etc.), performing on that occasion the function of recciving the sense-object.
