: archive.org: Shiva Purana - English TranslationRaudravapus (रौद्रवपुस्) refers to �(assuming) a terrible form�, according to the Śivapurāṇa 2.5.23 (“Outraging the modesty of Vṛndā�).—Accordingly, after Śiva spoke to the Daityas: “Then the infuriated Śiva assuming a terrible form (raudravapur-dhara), became as dreadful as the fire of dissolution, all of a sudden. On seeing the Daitya standing in front like the lofty peak of Meru and hearing from others that he could not be killed, he stood ready for it. As desired by Brahmā, the lord protector of the worlds decided to kill Jalandhara, blessing him in the heart of his heart. [...]�.
