Source: Wisdom Library: Brihat Samhita by VarahamihiraPavanakopa (啶さ啶ㄠ啷嬥お) refers to 鈥渟uffering from storm鈥�, according to the B峁沨atsa峁僪it膩 (chapter 8), an encyclopedic Sanskrit work written by Var膩hamihira mainly focusing on the science of ancient Indian astronomy astronomy (Jyoti峁).鈥擜ccordingly, 鈥淲hen Jupiter (产峁沨补蝉辫补迟颈) reappears at the beginning of the constellation of Dhani峁ａ弓h膩 in the month of M膩gha, the first year of the cycle of 60 years of Jupiter known as Prabhava commences. In it all creatures will be happy. In the same year there will be drought in certain places and suffering from storm and fire [i.e., pavanakopa鈥�辫补惫补苍腻驳苍颈办辞辫补岣�]; the crops will be injured; phlegmatic maladies will afflict mankind; nevertheless mankind will be happy. [...]鈥�.
Jyotisha (啶溹啶啶むた啶�, 箩测辞迟颈峁 or jyotish) refers to 鈥榓stronomy鈥� or 鈥淰edic astrology鈥� and represents the fifth of the six Vedangas (additional sciences to be studied along with the Vedas). Jyotisha concerns itself with the study and prediction of the movements of celestial bodies, in order to calculate the auspicious time for rituals and ceremonies.
