Description of the chapter [貹徱𱹲첹貹Բ]: Bhagavān turns first to the courtyards [], of which there may be five that surround the temple sanctuary. He gives some directions for the construction and decorations of the courtyard walls (1-11). In front of the ṛh sanctum—in the innermost courtyard—will be built the ṇḍ貹 (12-17); in front of that the ṛtٲṇḍ貹, with decorative stair case leading up to it, etc., will rise (18-23a); in front of that yet another pavilion, called the Գٲṇḍ貹, will be built (23b-35) As for gopura-structures, these are but briefly mentioned (36-38a). Other ṇḍ貹-buildings may also be placed in the other courtyards (33b-45a) For all the constructions Բ rites are to be performed (45b-46a)
Decorative double doors only will be found throughout the temple compound; these may be made either of wood or metal (46b-63a) Guarding the entrances at the cardinal points of the sanctuary will be specified pairs of 屹첹 (63-76а).
Some details are given regarding the 첹ٳԲ-kitchen and its appointments (76b-83). Also mentioned are: various store-rooms for the icons costumes; a dining-area for ԳپԲ; a treasury; a granary; cattle sheds; tank; etc. (84-93).
In each of the five courtyards it is proper to install certain aspects of the Lord [貹𱹲]. For examples, Garuḍa, Viṣvaksena, Śaṅkara, Kṣetrapāla, Ṣaṇmukha, etc., are in the first courtyard (94-99); Sūrya, Candra, Hayagrīva, and others will be located in the second courtyard (100-105); the twelve Ādityas, Manmatha, the Pitṛgaṇas, Gaṇeśa, etc., will be found in the third courtyard (106-1102); Upendra, the Gaṇadevatās, etc., will be placed in the fourth courtyard (110b-144a—no mention is made of the fifth courtyard).
