: Shodhganga: The significance of the m奴la-beras (history)Nellaiappar Temple in Tirunelveli, represents a sacred place for the worship of 艢iva.鈥擨n the Nellaiappar Temple,separate sanctums for the gods and goddesses are seen. The two independent structures of the Nellaiappar and Kantimati temple were linked in AD 1647 by Thiru Vadamalaippa Pillaiyan, a great devotee of 艢iva. The tower of Svami Nellaiappar and that of the Amman sannidhi was built by Muluthukanda Rama Pandyan in the 7th century AD. Besides the Amman sannidhi, there is the 弄ncal Ma峁囜笉 apa. There is also the Tirukalyana Ma峁囜笉 apa or the thousand-pillared hall. The 迟墨谤迟补蝉 in the temple are the pon t膩marai t墨rta and karum膩ri t墨rta. The two wonderful 尘补峁囜笉补辫补蝉 are Vasanta Ma峁囜笉 apa and Sa峁単ili Ma峁囜笉 apa.
