Nāndīkaḍa (नान्दीकड) is mentioned in Bashim Plates of Vindhyaśakti II. lt has been identified with Nanded. The name of Nāndīkaḍa showsthat the locality stood on the bank (or in the valley) of the Nāndī (modem Mānyad). Nanded, however, stands on the Godavari, at adistance from the course of the Mānyad. To justify the name, wehave probably to think that the Nāndī originally joined the Godāvarī, near Nāndīkaḍa.

Nāndīkaḍa (नान्दीकड), which was apparently the headquarters of a district3, is probably identical with Nānde the chief town of a district of the same name in the Mahārāshṭra State.
