: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesA village, evidently near Kacchakatittha, on the Mahavalukanadi (MT.472). There was once a Damila stronghold there, guarded by Nandika. Dutthagamani killed Nandika and captured the fort (Mhv.xxv.14). Later, Subha erected a vihara there (Ibid.,xxxv.58.).
The stronghold is also mentioned in the account of the campaigns of Parakkamabahu I. Cv.lxxii.44.
Therav膩da is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).

: What is India: Epigraphia Indica volume XXXI (1955-56)Nandig膩ma is the name of a village mentioned in the 鈥淢膩峁単allu grant of Amma II鈥� (c. 945 A.D.). Nandig膩ma was a strategic area which played a big part in history.
These copper plates (mentioning Nandig膩ma) were dug up somewhere in the Nandigama Taluk, Krishna District. It records the gift, at the instance of a feudatory chief named K膩katya Gu峁囜笉yana, of the village of M膩峁単allu in favour of a Br膩hma峁嘺 named Dommana.
