Nandeyavarta (नन्देयवर्त) refers to a type of fish (matsya) according to the Dhanvantari-Ծṇṭ 165.383-85. In the science of Āyurveda (ancient Indian healthcare), the meat of a fish is used and prepared in balanced diets. The DhanvantariԾṇṭ is a 10th-century medicinal thesaurus (Ծṇṭ) containing characteristics and synonyms of various herbal plants and minerals.
