Source: Wisdom Library: Maha Prajnaparamita SastraLokavid (लोकविद�) is a synonym for the Buddha according to the 2nd century Mahāprajñāpāramitāśāstra (chapter IV). Why is he called Lou kia pai (Lokavid)? Loka means world and vid means to know. The expression “Lokavid� thus means “Knower of the world�.
According to the Visuddhimagga:—“The Buddha knows the world of the formations (ǰ첹), the world of beings (sattaloka) and the world of space (ǰǰ첹) with all their subdivisions�.

Mahayana (महायान, mahāyāna) is a major branch of Buddhism focusing on the path of a Bodhisattva (spiritual aspirants/ enlightened beings). Extant literature is vast and primarely composed in the Sanskrit language. There are many ūٰ of which some of the earliest are the various Prajñāpāramitā ūٰ.
