Kirfel, Die Kosmographie der Inder, pp. 210-212) [...]. The verses are mostly lists of numbers, explained in the commentary. The same topic is dealt with in the Lokaprakāśa 12.3ff., the verses of which are often a Sanskritization of the present work. the Lokanālistava is quoted or referred to on this occasion (after 12.14 and after 12.104). [...] The aim of the author, mentioned in the first and the last verses, is to enable the reader to have an exact knowledge about the world. This right knoweldge should work as a basis in order to limit one’s own wandering in the ṃs.

Jainism is an Indian religion of Dharma whose doctrine revolves around harmlessness (ahimsa) towards every living being. The two major branches (Digambara and Svetambara) of Jainism stimulate self-control (or, shramana, ‘self-reliance) and spiritual development through a path of peace for the soul to progess to the ultimate goal.
