In the battle of BhÄrata, Bhīṣma made the formation of Krauñca. (MahÄbhÄrata Bhīṣma Parva, Chapter 75). The Krauñca disposition has eight strategical positions, the face, eyes, head, neck, stomach, left flank, right flank and thighs. In the disposition formed by Bhīṣma, Droṇa stood at the face, AÅ›vatthÄmÄ and Ká¹›pa stood at the eyes, HÄrdikya at the head and Śūrasena at the neck. The King of PrÄgjyotiá¹£a stood at the stomach of the formation. The Tuá¹£Äras, Yavanas, Åšakas and CÅ«puvas guarded the right flank. Åšá¹›tÄyus and BhÅ«riÅ›ravas kept the thighs.
