Theravada (major branch of Buddhism)
: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper Names-A deva asks the Buddha how sentient beings can escape from their tangles. By the destruction of raga, dosa, moha, answers the Buddha. This sutta forms the basis of the Visuddhi Magga. S.i.13; repeated at i.165.
Theravāda is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).
