The Intermediate Scope (i.e., “persons of intermediate scope who seek individual liberation�) refers to a particular typology of training discussed in Atiśa’s Bodhipathapradīpa (vv. 2�5) that is followed by Kadampa and later by Gelukpa traditions. These Three Persons are the persons of small scope (who seek higher rebirth), intermediate scope (who seek individual liberation), and great scope (who seek Buddha-hood for the sake of all beings).
