Accordingly, 鈥渢he Buddha was dwelling on the K鈥檌 ch枚 kiue chan (骋峁沝丑谤补办奴峁璦辫补谤惫补迟补), the vulture peak mountain鈥�. G峁沝hra means vulture and 办奴峁璦 means peak.
Why is it called 骋峁沝丑谤补办奴峁璦辫补谤惫补迟补 (vulture peak mountain)?
1) The summit of this mountain resembles a vulture and the inhabitants of R膩jag峁沨a, because of this resemblance, agreed to call it vulture peak mountain. This is why it is called 骋峁沝丑谤补办奴峁璦辫补谤惫补迟补.
2) Furthermore, south of R膩jag峁沨a, in the Che t鈥檕 lin (艢墨tavana), there were many corpses; vultures commonly came to devour them and then went to perch on the peak of the nearby mountain. The people then named it vulture peak (骋峁沝丑谤补办奴峁璦辫补谤惫补迟补) mountain. It is the highest of the five mountains of R膩jag峁沨a. It abounds in precious forests and waters. The 膧ryas live there.
