: Pali Kanon: Pali Proper NamesA brahmin village near Dakkhinagiri, to the south of Rajagaha. Once, during the eleventh year of his ministry, the Buddha visited the village and preached to Kasi Bharadvaja the sutta which bears his name and which converted him to the faith (Sn.pp.12ff; SnA.i.136; S.i.172ff). Near the village was the Dakkhinagiri vihara. SA.i.188.
Therav膩da is a major branch of Buddhism having the the Pali canon (tipitaka) as their canonical literature, which includes the vinaya-pitaka (monastic rules), the sutta-pitaka (Buddhist sermons) and the abhidhamma-pitaka (philosophy and psychology).

In the Sa峁儁utta Nik膩ya we find a reference to the brahmin village of Ekan膩l膩. It was in Magadha. we are told that the Blessed One once stayed on the Dakkhi峁嘺giri at Ekan膩l膩.
