ٳ󲹰첹 (धर्मकर्त�) refers to the “supervisor� working at Śiva temples, according to [medieval] temple inscriptions and Śaivāgamas.—The “Devakaṉmi� or “ٳ󲹰첹� carried out all legal transactions for the temple and supervised the affairs of the temple. [...] The temple had an accountant (첹ṇa) and a supervisor or manager (dharmakarta, 𱹲첹ṳ) to look after the affairs of the temple. In large temples, there was also the treasury (ṇḍ) keeper who received daily, all the endowed material measured out to the temple by various parties, like ghee, milk, oil, etc.

ٳ󲹰첹 (धर्मकर्त�) refers to the “trustees of a temple� (i.e., Arcakas—“priests who conducts sacrifices to the Lord for others�), as discussed in chapters 2-3 of the ʲܰṣaṃh: a Pāñcarātra text in ten chapters composed of 940 verses dealing with the personnel of a temple, their prerequisites and duties, their different ranks, the privileges and responsibilities of each etc.—Description of the chapter [첹-󾱰ⲹ-Ծ-ū貹ṇa]: Continuing along same lines as in preceding chapter, Nārada points out that an Arcaka is just like a son [putra] of Hari, and thus it is as a birth-right that the temple concerns fall to him (1-7a). Therefore, all should obey the Arcakas Trustees [󲹰첹] should help to make the Arcakas� role effective and their life comfortable, for the Arcakas have no other duty than to conduct sacrifice to the Lord for others [貹ٳ󲹱ū]. They are answerable only to God (7-19). [...]
