: ORA: Amanaska (king of all yogas): A Critical Edition and Annotated Translation by Jason BirchDefilements refers to one of the 鈥渇our obstacles to R膩jayoga鈥�, according to the Yuktabhavadeva.鈥擲imilar instances of laya as an obstacle to Yoga are also seen in late medieval yoga texts, such as the Yuktabhavadeva (1.38-39), which lists sleep, distraction, defilements (in Sanskrit: 办补峁Ｄ乱补) and the enjoyment of pleasure as the four obstacles to R膩jayoga. These obstacles were derived from two verses of Gau岣峚p膩da鈥檚 M膩峁囜笉奴kyopani峁tk膩rik膩 (3.44-45), which Bhavadevami艣ra quoted without attribution.
Yoga is originally considered a branch of Hindu philosophy (astika), but both ancient and modern Yoga combine the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga teaches various physical techniques also known as 膩sanas (postures), used for various purposes (eg., meditation, contemplation, relaxation).
