Source: Wisdom Library: Brihat Samhita by Varahamihira´¡±¹á¹›á¹£á¹i°ì²¹°ù²¹ (अवृषà¥à¤Ÿà¤¿à¤•à¤�) refers to “that which brings droughtâ€�, according to the Bá¹›hatsaṃhitÄ (chapter 10), an encyclopedic Sanskrit work written by VarÄhamihira mainly focusing on the science of ancient Indian astronomy astronomy (Jyotiá¹£a).—Accordingly, “If the disc of Saturn (Å›²¹²Ô²¹¾±Å›³¦²¹°ù²¹) should appear glossy and if his course should lie through the constellations of Åšravaṇa, SvÄti, Hasta, Ä€rdrÄ, BharaṇÄ� or PÅ«rvaphÄlguni, the Earth will be covered with water. If his course should lie through the constellations of Āśleá¹£Ä�, Åšatabhiá¹£aj, Jyeá¹£á¹hÄ, there will be prosperity in the land but slight rain; if his course should lie through MÅ«la, mankind will suffer from hunger, from weapons and from drought [i.e., ²¹±¹á¹›á¹£á¹i°ì²¹°ù²¹]. We will now proceed to state the effects of Saturn’s course through each of the 27 constellationsâ€�.
